Uproar over Panchayat elections, Election Commission convenes all-party meeting, SEC appears before Governor -aabtak24

Bengal Panchayat Polls 2023:Ever since the announcement of the Panchayat elections in West Bengal, the opposition has been opposing its dates. Meanwhile, State Election Commissioner of West Bengal Rajiv Sinha has called an all-party meeting on 13th June. Officials gave information about this on Saturday (June 10). According to PTI, the meeting will discuss maintaining law and order during the West Bengal Panchayat elections, along with the objections of the parties regarding the elections will also be heard. On the other hand, Rajiv Sinha reached Raj Bhavan on Saturday and met Governor CV Anand Bose. 

PTI quoted an official as saying, "All political parties have been invited to the meeting on Tuesday (June 13). The law and order situation in the state will be discussed in the meeting. We will also listen to the complaints and demands of political parties."

Rajiv Sinha appeared before the governor

State Election Commissioner Rajiv Sinha appeared before Governor CV Bose on Saturday (June 10) amid protests from the opposition. Sinha was summoned by the governor amid reports of violence during nominations for panchayat elections in the state. Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary had written a letter to the governor regarding the Panchayat elections, in which the murder of a party worker in Murshidabad was also mentioned.

According to India Today’s report, the governor asked Sinha what steps were taken to prevent incidents of violence in Murshidabad. Earlier, Congress and BJP leaders had met the governor separately and appealed to him to take steps to prevent incidents during nominations.
